BFC
began in 1947, two years after World War II ended. When Abe Farber
was discharged from the Air Force in 1946, he returned to St. Louis
with the dream of owning and operating his own business. This became
a reality when Browning-Farber Novelty Company opened its
doors at 4631 Delmar in St. Louis in 1947.
Those
were uncomplicated times and the business operated in a very simple
way. The day's collection was counted and coins were wrapped at
the kitchen table. One technician handled service for all the machines.
Typewriters, not computers, typed letters. Addressographs punched
route tickets from metal plates, and the office had only one phone
line.
Over the years BFC has expanded and kept abreast of the times
as the Amusement Industry has changed and grown. The Company has
diversified into full line vending, water, coffee, and ATM services.
Even with all the changes, certain ideologies within the company
remain constant. In particular, superior customer service and customer
satisfaction have been passed down through three generations of
operation and ownership. This has allowed BFC to become a
company operating over 2500 pieces of equipment with nearly 1000
accounts trusting us with our services.
